PIAA begins recruitment drive for new CEO

Printing Industries Board President Susan Heaney said four board members including herself would oversee the recruitment and selection process.

She says, “We are launching a national recruitment campaign this week to give us the widest and best possible candidate options. Advertisements have been placed in The Australian Newspaper and the Australian Financial Review and online via SEEK.

“Applications close on Friday 25 March 2011 and shortly after we will begin interviewing candidates.”

Heaney said it was important that applicants understand the realities of managing a not-for-profit organisation and possess proven negotiating, lobbying and people management skills.

“This is a significant time in the association’s history and development and we have an important responsibility to ensure we appoint the best candidate able to provide the leadership and motivation to achieve the goals of our association and of the industry.”

Andersen said he had not set a firm date for his departure and will remain as CEO until the board are able to recruit a suitable replacement.

He said, “You would be aware that for the past couple of years I have been working, with the support of our previous National Councils, to change the structure of the association to meet the goals of relevance and industry leadership essential for the ongoing development of our association.

“This has been a necessary evolution because of the challenges of our rapidly changing industry and the global communication environment in which it operates. While the groundwork has been laid to facilitate the future development, it is now time to start the building process, a process that requires a long term commitment as we utilise our new structure to develop and implement new visions and goals.”

Andersen concludes, “While looking forward to my retirement and a much needed rest, I will continue to support the Board and its new CEO as they embark in this next, important phase of the Association’s development. This phase will need the full focus, energy and leadership abilities of the CEO in its implementation.”
