PISEC attracts brand owners

The high profile conference dealt with key aspects of managing brand protection and counterfeiting crime. Tom Fadrhonc, director of brand protection at Nike presented the keynote plenary session on, ‘The effects of counterfeiting on high value added goods’ – and James Dunkelberger from Microsoft presented a keynote on “Protecting the Microsoft flagship product line – today’s challenges, tomorrow’s requirements.” Other high profile speakers included Peter Lowe, Counterfeit Intelligence Bureau and James Stafford, Marks & Spencer.

In addition, the winners of the PISEC Industry Awards – first established in 1999 and now widely coveted by the world’s leading security technology suppliers – were announced at the event, following on-line voting from across the industry. The winners were:

 Development of Authenticity Products – Kezzler
 Best Practice in Product and Brand Protection – React
 Anti-forgery Technologies – Sherwood Technology
 Applications in RFID for Product Protection – Philips
 Tamper Evidence Innovation – Hologram Industries

Mike Fairley, PISEC conference chairman said, “PISEC has come to be regarded by major brand owners and solutions providers as the leading global event of its type, and is now regularly used to launch new products and technologies to the market place. This year there were five such launches.

“Being able to honor the leading technology and systems innovators through an Awards program further stimulates the industry into new solutions to fight global brand crime and authentication challenges, which are now increasingly perpetuated through organized criminal activity. PISEC is rightly taking its place at the forefront of this fight against organized global crime.”
