PMP’s turnaround toasted with Australia’s “most prestigious” HR Award

The award recognised excellence in the area of shaping, managing and influencing organisational change “including mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, strategic and cultural change”.

PMP fought off competition from finalists from a variety of industries, but won out due to its success of its re-build initiative.

Chief executive Richard Allely spearheaded the ‘PMP Re-energised’ campaign, which since 2009 has implemented strategic reviews, site consolidations and staff reductions across the network.

“The key to the change has been a combination of having a very clear strategy and plan of where you want be and having a strong-team working together to achieve the outcome,” he said.

“Individuals on their own can influence change, but the delivery of the change can only come from a cohesive team.”

Allely added that the company was happy just to be nominated for the award and was “literally blown away” when it was announced as the winner.

“Changed management becomes the way you do things. You never reach the end but over time the change in culture becomes clearer and begins to have greater effect,” he said.

“The change starts to become a new way of doing business, which I think is very helpful especially in our market.”

Justin Kennedy, publishing director of awards organiser Key Media, said: “We received a large number of entries for this category but felt that the change management program implemented by PMP Limited was the most successful in terms of its scope and impact on the bottom line of the business.”
