After two long days of deliberation, the independent judging panel confirmed that, once again, quality standards continue to improve while the overall number of flaws in the printed samples submitted continues to shrink.
Chairman of Judges Rod Urquhart said it was a pleasing result, commenting that some categories had taxed the team due to the large number of ‘near perfect’ entries. He says, “The task of separating entries often comes down to deciding whichever is the nearest to perfect, and so even tiny faults well within commercial acceptability are taken into account.
“Based on the excellent results from the last few years, the fact that judges unanimously rated this year’s quality as the best ever is indeed a great compliment to the print producers of this country.
“It strongly suggests that the various printing awards continue to fulfil one of their primary functions – to increase the competitiveness of the Australian industry.”
Winners of this history-making competition will be presented with their awards at a glittering presentation ceremony at Melbourne’s Palladium at Crown, on Wednesday 16 April, 2008. Tickets for the event are available now by calling the National Print Awards office on (03) 8541 7333 or emailing printawards@printnet.com.au
