PrintNSW Excellence Awards

In addition to awards for Business Innovation and Outstanding Print Production, Printing Industries announced the inaugural presentation of a top award for NSW Printing Industries Business of the Year 2006 to Penfold Buscombe. State manager, Mike Webb, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

Robert Fuller, Printing Industries NSW general manager, says that the standard of entries in this year’s awards far exceeded expectations.

“The judges were challenged by the high quality of print, so much so that in one category, four-colour print, three commendations were given,” says Fuller.

“For the first time, successful entries from the state competition will feed into the National Print Awards.”

Fuller says that the response of the industry was gratifying and that feedback had been very positive, with just on 200 guests enjoying the state’s print ’night of nights’.

“It was a black tie affair and this, together with the very high standard of entertainment, set the scene for a very memorable night,” says Fuller.

In his remarks, state opposition leader, Peter Debenham, showed understanding of the difficulties facing the printing industry and expressed the view that a better environment for business in New South Wales would be beneficial for all industries.

Fuller says planning will begin shortly for next year’s PrintNSW Awards competition and awards night. “Our target is to attract even more guests next year and from the feedback we’ve had, a growing number of industry leaders are keen to support the event in the future,” Fuller concludes.
