Managing director Michael Rooney says the company has developed a renewed focus on delivering end-to-end solutions, with an emphasis on “colour management for the whole workflow”.
“The norm has been for companies to sell individual products, then offer a profiling service for that section — but it doesn’t relate to the other devices and software in the workflow, and so that leads to a lot of blame passing,” said Rooney.
“We believe we’re the first to link all of the products together into a controlled workflow from image capture, to edit and design on screen, then to both digital and commercial printing. “
“Companies are so focused on ‘cheap’ these days — as in cheap quality — they seem to have forgotten it’s not what everyone wants. By ‘everyone’ here I mean not only professional photographers, but their customers too. For example, a bridal couple will quite rightly expect the very best images of their wedding, just as a glossy magazine would expect top quality.”
The recruitment of Morris (pictured) – who worked for more than a decade in the UK for The Independent snapping the likes of Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, David Bowie – is expected to help cielab cater to the high-end photographic market.
A native of Australia, Morris returned home in 1996 to embark on a career in imaging and photographic equipment sales, giving him experience on both sides of the industry.
