
Pure Colours founder John MacLulich, who first saw the machine at Ipex 2010, told ProPrint: “We have collected one of everything they have done in production colour over the years so it seemed a natural progression.”
The 80ppm machine has already helped the 12-staff firm secure work. “I know of at least one job that I am 100% sure we would not have got if we didn’t say it was going on a C8000,” said MacLulich (pictured).
The new device adds about 20-30% to the Sydney print shop’s capacity. MacLulich said he was also attracted to the front-to-back registration and the decurling.
Pure Colours started life as a pre-press house, so colour quality is of utmost importance. “One thing I noticed straight away is there are a lot more controls on this device than we have had from KM in the past. It puts a lot more onus on the operators to know what they are doing,” said MacLulich.
Konica Minolta’s Sean Crichton-Browne said: “Pure Colours’ volumes had increased significantly and the introduction of the C8000 supported their expansion, providing the additional speed and capabilities needed to meet demand.”
