The annual event, sponsored by Heidelberg Australia, was played at Nick OHern’s Mt Lawley Golf Club in Perth over four days from October 14-17, 2006.
In another achievement Printing Industries’ Yvonne Little became the first woman to participate in the history of the Shield.
Final team scores were:
• Bruce Manderson and Damien Hogan (Qld) – 43 points
• John Wanless and Ross Gilberthorpe (Vic) – 41 points
• Alan Dove and Yvonne Little
(NSW) – 41 points
• Ian Dalbridge and Steve Staker
(SA) – 39 points
• Brad Hall and Michael Laws
(WA) – 39 points
Last year New South Wales, represented by Hayden Rorke and Val Loumbos, won the Heidelberg Shield by eight shots at Kooyonga Golf Club in South Australia.
The Shield’s origins date back to 1935 in a print machine shop in Germany.
The present day competition commenced in 1973 with support from the Printing Industries Association of Australia and Heidelberg Australia. Next year’s Heidelberg Shield will be contested in Queensland.
