One week out from the competition deadline, 3AW radio presenter Darren James has agreed to host the Victorian PICAs in Melbourne in November. Trevor Hone, chairman of PICA Victoria, says James’ way with words makes him an ideal choice, and this year’s PacPrint has already set a positive tone for the industry.

Hone says, “Print is powerful, effective and sustainable, and every year we see fantastic examples of how it can be used in extraordinary ways in the marketing mix. A PICA or National Print Award gives you a chance to promote your print credentials and start a conversation about the possibilities of print with clients and potential clients – plus, it’s a chance to ‘print your competition under the table’, which is always a bit of fun. With the competition’s September 13 deadline fast approaching, Hone urges printers to submit, but avoid rushing the process. He says, “Our judges have told us in the past of entries that failed to make the cut because of simple mistakes such as small printing faults, damage or incorrect or incomplete information. Taking time to select and carefully check entries, double check the details on your entry form, and package everything securely, can make all the difference.” The Victorian PICA presentation dinner will be held on Friday November 8 at the Sofitel Melbourne. Entries are due by close of business Friday September 13. To enter, download a form at www.picavic.com.au.
