Conrad Birkett, business development manager for Roland DG Australia, says the PRO4 XF-40 has got real speed. What is significant about this machine is that it delivers quality print at that speed. While it is a production workhorse, it doesn’t lose quality and definition and it doesn’t lose density. The prints appear rich and vibrant, even at high speed. The new technologies combined with the new ink even allow us to do those speeds on paper stock.
Designed for indoor and outdoor applications such as for signs, banners, vehicle wraps, window graphics, POP displays, trade show graphics, posters, the Roland DG PRO 4 XF-640 has a dual mirrored CMYK ink configuration. Birkett says this eliminates banding for consistent colour imaging when handling large graphic files. He says, The new heads handle high levels of ink for added density and rich, saturated colours. It also has several performance upgrades and comes with a total of 16 pinch rollers and a new grit roller system, which ensures flawless media feeding.
The new printer has a redesigned media take up system and heater. Roland DG says this makes the most of the productivity by reducing the amount of time required for printing and drying graphics during high speed volume production. It also has a redesigned front loading ink cartridge which provides ink access while minimising the functional printer footprint. A latched maintenance cover protects the print head assembly and opens automatically at the touch of a button. Roland DG adds that special media brackets support even the heaviest media rolls as they are loaded into place.
Birkett says, “The PRO 4 XF-640 uses 30 per cent less ink per sqm than other products. That makes it a hard machine to market. We need to need to get people in front of it and that is one of the reasons we are here supporting the show.
“Quality for quality; it is such a fast printer. A lot of that is down to the chassis itself. It has a lot of metals. You need a rock solid chassis to get quality high speed. With apologies to Bill Haley, it doesn’t shake rattle or roll. Combine all that with the tech latest generation industrial piezo print heads in staggered configuration, it allows us to use exceptionally high print speeds and dramatically less ink than ever before.
“Here at the show, we will go through a standard 68m roll every hour. We are printing for charities: Oxfam, World Vision, and SurfAid. We are printing on Avery Banner stock and Sil paper stock. Sil and Avery have been great supporters of the charities as well.”
Roland DG also offers a five year warranty. Birkett adds, “That includes print heads. There is no hidden cost. What comes out of the box is what you get. You get the rip with free upgrades. The return on investment is excellent.”
