The 137cm (54-inch) machine can print, crease, contour and perf-cut substrates up to 1mm thick. It prints CMYK with white and gloss at up to 1,440dpi.
The vendor said the LEC-540 (pictured) is “significantly faster than Roland’s previous VersaUV models, and offers greater versatility for applications ranging from packaging prototypes, short-run labels and membrane panels to interior décor items and large-format graphics”.
The introduction of larger UV-LED lamps makes the press twice as fast as the 30-inch LEC-330. The LEC-540 also features built-in front and back tables to secure less flexible substrates for folding cartons and other packaging prototypes.
Roland DG business development manager Conrad Birkett said: “The LEC-540 is the perfect size for large-format graphics and supports direct printing onto less flexible materials including clay-coated newsback board (CCNB) used to produce folding cartons.”
Meanwhile, the vendor has also announced that the GMG printer driver for the LEC-330 is now available.
The printer driver is intended to enable the press to produce quick colour-accurate mock-ups for packaging and labelling applications.
