Smartech has sold an Agfa Jeti Tauro 3300 UHS with full automation to Sydney-based Pegasus Media & Logistics, confirming the sale is its largest ever single equipment deal to date.
Pegasus acknowledged the scale of the investment, noting that while the purchase is substantial, it may be replicated in the future.
“Our business is strategically positioned for the growth required to meet current and future market demand,” recently appointed Pegasus CEO Michael Sherlock said.
“This investment will ensure we continue to lead the market with our unique end-to-end service offering – anchored by a robust print and manufacturing division, enhanced by our 3PL and 4PL warehousing operations, and powered by an advanced warehouse management system with real-time inventory and reporting capabilities, as well as our global sourcing division.
“Efficiency, quality, and speed to market are critical to delivering on our commitment to our clients – ‘doing what we say, we will do’.
“The Jeti Tauro 3300 UHS will significantly extend our print capabilities, particularly the flexibility to print on a wide range of substrates, which is essential to our business. This investment reaffirms our commitment to supporting both our people and our customers as we future proof our operations.”
According to Sherlock, the machine will elevate Pegasus’ capabilities within the point of sale and large format segment of the market.
“With the industry needs rapidly evolving, the Jeti Tauro 3300 UHS’ speed, precision technology, and output quality complement our existing offset operations and prepare us for continued growth,” he said.
“The Jeti Tauro 3300 UHS offers us the opportunity to produce up to 3.3m wide substrates, while also delivering varnish capabilities and enabling digital print output at offset-level quality. It truly sets a new benchmark in matching the expectations of our most demanding clients.”
Sherlock also acknowledged the instrumental role Smartech and Agfa played in the decision-making process.
“From early discussions around the Jeti Tauro 3300 UHS’ capabilities through to the planning of our imminent delivery to our Blacktown headquarters, Smartech and Agfa have provided unwavering support,” he said.
“Their team addressed every question and offered the confidence required for such a significant investment. The support extended to an on-site visit to Agfa’s Cambridge operation in the UK, which was critical in finalising our decision.”
Smartech NSW sales manager and national product manager – sign and display, Brett Wark, said, “This is a major milestone for Smartech, our partnership with Agfa, and our relationship with Pegasus.
“We’re incredibly proud of this transaction and look forward to a long-term relationship with Pegasus, supporting their ability to meet customer needs with world-class technology.”
