Perfectly Bound plans to buy all of the equipment from collapsed Silverwater outfit TLC print finishing, and will set up in the same premises. Michael Smith, managing director at Perfectly Bound, says the company will diversify from its traditional trade binding focus by picking up the kit. It has already secured three Sakurai screen printing lines and three Bilhoefer laminating lines. Smith says, “I have bought all the major kit and hope to have all the smaller equipment by the end of the week. The equipment gives us entry into celloglazing and UV.

“I am in negotiation with the landlord over the building lease.” It is believed a finance house owned most of the major kit which Smith has now bought, while a factoring company owns the rest. TLC had been on the market for almost six months and says it was done in by the collapse of major client Focus Press in April, leaving it more than $175,000 out of pocket. With losses mounting, TLC ceased trading in August and was locked out of its Silverwater facility by landlord Goodman Australia when it could not pay the rent. Perfectly Bound operates in nearby Rydalmere and has been trading for more than 25 years providing binding, stitching, folding, scoring, trimming and drilling services to printers in Sydney.
