Bob Gardner, joint managing director, SOS Print + Media Group, says, “ The Prosper 1000 Press delivers an extremely competitive technological advantage in the printing of trade books in particular, as well as educational books. Given this segment represents a significant percentage of our turnover, the investment in the Prosper 1000 Press is more than justified.”

Kodak outlines that by using its innovative Stream inkjet technology, Prosper Solutions makes it possible for print service providers to produce offset class output in terms of quality, productivity and cost for their clients, while offering the ability to print permanently on coated, uncoated and glossy papers.

Reflecting the multi-application opportunities the Prosper platform provides Gardiner says, “The press we are installing will be initially configured for monochrome printing only; however we are reviewing the option to upgrade to the Prosper 5000XL colour press when it is available in 2011.

“This will allow us to move into personalised catalogues, magazines, transactional documents for smaller entities like credit unions, and then direct marketing areas, which we will pursue through our partnership with U&I Direct.”

Gardiner believes there are several fiscal benefits with this purchase in comparative terms to previous production methods. He says, “There is a very significant reduction in cost per page when you multiply by 20, 30 or 40 million pages. Combine this differential with the savings in labour costs and there is a huge, tangible impact to the bottom line.”
