SS Signs & Vehicle Wraps is the latest state wrap champion, taking out the Brisbane competition at the Visual Impact Expo. The SS team, led by owner Steve Lambourne, narrowly beat Fleetwrite Group with Benga Designs and Townsville’s The Digimen close behind.
Lambourne says the team strategy was all about speed, accepting a few time penalities for mistakes as it raced full steam ahead for the finish. He says the team intends to shave down its state final finish time of just under three hours by 20 minutes to prepare for the national contest at Visual Impact Sydney in September. Michael Punch, general manager of event organiser the Australian Sign and Graphics Association, says the competition’s position in pride of place at Visual Impact generated interest from attendees. He says, “It meant that several hundred spectators were able to view skilled tradesmen at work as they wrapped Falcon XR 6 vehicles, working tirelessly over nearly four hours. All four companies completed the wrap within the 4.5 hours allowed under the competition rules.” The Western Australia and New South Wales titles are still to be claimed in May, with state and then national finalists to battle it out for Australian champion, and the chance to play the Kiwis in the trans-Tasman competition.
