Lead by general manager Ben Eaton, the Starleaton team has supplied the 3A Gator board, Enviroboard MR and Morane film to construct an aircraft that will be push-launced by him and his team and piloted by (the slightly lighter) James Vesper.
The drawback of being a pusher is that both you and the launch apparatus end up in the drink.
Eaton says, “It’s a fun thing but we are taking our entry seriously. Such as training drops for the pushers as it’s a 10 metre fall once the plane is launched.
“Gator and Enviroboard MR has been used and CNC cut for the framework and stringers with the wings and fuselage skinned with 75 micron Morane encapsulation film.”
The judging is based on plane design and entertainment value as well as distance flown.
