Sydney printer looking to lend a hand to Qld flood victims

In an email to Australian Printer, Mari Crame owner of Granville-based commercial printer Revesby Press said he was looking for a way the industry could pull together and co-ordinate some assistance to the victims.

Crame said, “We’ve lost some very young Australians to this tragic event. My idea was to muster our organisations to bring some joy to the children. Toys would be the last thing relief providers would be thinking about at this time.”

He continued, “Since Christmas has just passed there maybe presents or unopened toys we can put together and send over to the children affected by the floods. I only have a small factory here in Granville but I don’t mind if it is used as a drop off point.”

Crame is no stranger to helping those in need, following a devastating flood in the Philippines during 2009 he organised a similar event, and with the help of the local community, managed to send three 40 foot containers of food and clothes to the victims.

During the event almost half of Crame’s facility was filled with cans and clothes, despite being in the middle of production. He said, “It was a bit chaotic but people came from everywhere to help pack boxes, the community spirit was so strong and alert to what was happening. When it was over people were asking what else they could do to help.”

Crame said he would be happy to talk to anyone in the industry who had any ideas or resources that they would be willing to contribute.

He said, “These kids and their families would have a lot more to worry about then toys right now, but maybe they can have another Christmas in a few months.”

Anyone wishing to discuss Crame’s idea further should contact Revesby Press.
