The digital era is paving the way for new printing applications, with a new Croatian manufactured UV technology printer machine allowing selfie lovers to print personalised logos on their products. John Risso from Rydalmere-based Synergize Print & Media has invested in the Azon UV printer, supplied by Graph-Pak, which has the ability to print on any hard substrate, including glass, ceramics, wood and tiles. “It can print on pre-printed products as well, which allows any logo or name to be printed on any substrate,” Risso told AP. He said the printing industry has changed drastically in the last five years, mainly due to the online, however, technology has ‘brought in a new player into the market – the ability to print on anything’. “So if you bring in a promotional product from overseas and you printed 5000 of them, but you wanted to personalise it to your client with a logo or name, then you can do that as well,” he said.
“It crosses over from a promotional product to a variable promotional product, where you can put different graphics on the product, and that’s the beauty of it. All you have to do is press a button.” Risso, has been busy experimenting different substrates and different application of the printer, and hopes that word of mouth will spread the news. He expects 25 per cent of his business in the first year will come from this machine and he says those who want to see their name on their products will promote the printer. “If you can print your name on the side of your glasses, would you do it?” Risso asked. “If you can do it for yourself with your piece of equipment, then you would. “Especially with that iGeneration – selfie attitude – where they want to see themselves, they want to see their brand more and more,” he said. “So if you get a selfie with your sunglasses with your name on it, all of a sudden it becomes the new thing. And that’s the next step. Personalisation is the next step.”
