HighWater Platinum 2218

After the successful launch of an entry-level 4-up violet platesetter, Highwater introduced a 2-up option, the Platinum 2218, in 2000. “We realised there was a market for 2-up from users that didn’t want polyester and were looking for a [small-format] metal platesetter,” says Peter Flynn, sales director at HighWater (UK). Targeted at printers looking for an affordable violet platesetter, it was an immediate success and more than 700 were sold worldwide before production ceased in 2006. “For a year before the Prosetter was launched, we were selling it to Heidelberg,” adds Flynn.
