Townsville printer first to buy Ricoh C7110x

Family owned Townsville business, NPS Corporate, has become the first regional company to purchase the new Ricoh Pro C7110x printer, which they say will be a ‘major step forward’ for their business. The company owners John and Tammy Larkin took over the family business, which employs 16 people, more than 12 years ago.

Speaking with the Australian Printer at the launch of Ricoh Pro C7110x in Sydney, John says, “The Ricoh Pro C7110x will give our business new opportunities to align the company with web-to-print and take on bigger work outside our business, and will ensure we remain competitive.” He says the Pro C7110x will not replace any of the company’s existing machines; rather it will be a new addition to their business. Tammy says, “We came and saw the earlier models which had some criteria we were looking for, but the printers did not tick all the boxes, so when we saw this one, we were impressed. “This machine changes everything for us, seeing the samples of what it can do will open up opportunities that just weren’t there before. “We have a number of staff that has been with us for more than 30 years and we are committed to keeping them employed, so it is exciting for us to buy this new printer, which will give the company an edge.” Ricoh says the Pro C7100x series is designed to support printers who are looking to enter new markets and explore new opportunities in digital print. The machines particularly target graphic arts businesses, direct mailers, service bureaus, digital printers and in-plant print centres. Ricoh says more competitive applications are possible, including banners, POP displays, signs and marketing collateral. John says print businesses face an ‘unfortunate tough time’ in small regional towns, where the owners are getting into retirement age, and the capital cost of new technologies have forced some of them to exit the market. “That is a shame but it is presenting our business with new opportunities, and if you see an opportunity it is unwise to not grab it,” he says. The Larkin’s business has been operating for the past 50 years.
