UPM to launch XXL papers at drupa

UPM says that for the last few months it has had the capacity to cut sheet formats up to 2.10 metres long in its Norservice Service Centre in Dorpen (Germany).

However, with the introduction of new XXL sheet-fed machines, such as the KBA Rapida 205, or the MAN Roland 900 XXL, and the imminent launch of Heidelberg into large format at drupa demand for extra large paper formats is expanding.

The company added that, above all, XXL printing guarantees efficiency, since large-format posters can be pasted together from fewer parts. XXL formats also provide increased benefits in the production of books, packaging or labels and printing becomes faster and more cost-effective.

Herbert Hennig, the managing director of Norservice, said: "The format finishing line at our Nordland Papier paper mill can cut formats up to a maximum of 1.90 metres. Now thanks to the modified cross-cutter, we can now produce extra-large formats in our Service Centre."
