Mimaki was in its first outing since establishing itself as a direct subsidiary of its Japanese parent, highlighting its new JV400-160LX 64-inch printer, which it says is the world’s first latex printer using white ink.
The six colours plus white printer comes with a print speed of up to 18sqm an hour and, says the company, uses less energy than other latex printers. It will be available here next February.
Brad Creighton at Mimaki says, “Mimaki’s white latex ink meets the needs of a wide range of printing requirements and substrates. They are instant drying, which is a real boon to productive print.”
Mimaki latex inks are fast-drying and supported by three heaters integrated into the printing system as well as drying fans, to ensure products are ready for processing and finishing as they exit the printer.
A low curing temperature of 60 degrees or below enables printing on a wide range of heat-sensitive materials, and means less power usage. Quality is ensured by a minimum dot size of four picolitres and variable sized dots.
