Vilensky Paper moves to new site

Established in 1964, the paper merchant cited “increased growth over the past three years” as the catalyst for the move to the purpose-built facility in Eastern Creek (pictured), which is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

“We continue to see growth in our market sector, even though many would disagree,” Grant Shortland, the company’s general manager, told ProPrint. “Consolidation of larger merchants has assisted our growth and we believe will continue to, as the majority of printing companies are family owned and looking to support independent merchants.”

Shortland also said that the company will increase its range of products in the coming months, most notably with the introduction of a Recycled Coated Art Paper and Board.

“We believe FSC [Forest Stewardship Council certification] is a positive move for the industry, however Vilensky Paper thinks that the end user identifies more with the term ‘recycled’,” said Shortland. “This view is supported in Europe where the environmental focus is moving toward carbon credits, not so much FSC.”

Shortland added that he believes Vilensky is “well-positioned” for the introduction of carbon trading in Australia next year, though he described the change as the company’s “biggest challenge” for the future.
