Whitehead to take international role

Canon Australia senior manager wide format Paul Whitehead is moving to Venlo to become the international marketing manager for Océ Technologies.

Whitehead says, “It is a tremendous opportunity to build on the success of the market leading Océ wide format solutions including Arizona, as well as the Océ products for CAD and GIS.

“Océ has a lot of development in the pipeline that will raise the speed and the quality of its printers to new levels, I look forward to bringing those solutions to the market and helping our customers develop their businesses.”

Whitehead has been in his current role with Canon for the past two and half years, and prior to that he spent four years in Venlo as International Business Development manager for Océ.

He says, “I will be facilitating communications between the regions, the factories and the R+D departments, and will be travelling a fair bit, including back to Australia now and again.”

Whitehead says the development of Océ wide format solutions means that applications will continue to grow, he says, “It is an exciting time to work with Océ.”

Whitehead joins the growing number of Aussie execs moving overseas to bigger roles, which includes his one-time boss Mike Boyle, now head of HP Asia Pacific in Singapore.

At drupa pommie Steve Wilson, former managing director of Océ Australia and now head of Ricoh Europe Customer Centre, spent time telling Australian executives that they needed to put themselves forward to work overseas if they wanted to further their careers, and to stop the flow of Europeans coming to Australia to head up subsidiaries.
