Supported by Heidelberg, Geon and Blue Star Print Group, the annual event has doubled in size since its inception last year and is also being held in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide later this month.
Host for the evening, Karen Goldsmith of GAMAA, welcomed guests saying the event was an opportunity for women to meet their peers in the industry.
First speaker, Adriana Nuneva, senior vice president of Global Marketing at Heidelberg talked about making opportunities for youth, especially young women, to enter and be supported in the printing industry.
Keynote speaker, columnist journalist and editor, Shelley Gare, emphasised the value of humour, resilience and health in achieving balance in the working environment.
She pointed out that a lot of successful women had succeeded because they had won respect. She also spoke about the phenomenon of ‘male blindness’, and how men don’t see women the way they see men.
Gare says globalisation, managerial structures and technology have changed the workplace but there are still plenty of opportunities out there for the taking, and women who dare can make real achievements in their chosen career path.
The event celebrates the many roles of women in the printing industry and is an opportunity for them to network with their peers in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Organisers say the Sydney event was so popular that they had to close off bookings early.
