CMYKhub adds UV coating service thanks to new Ryobi 925D press

The trade printer has bought the A1-sized Ryobi 925D currently on show at the Cyber booth. The press is a five colour plus coater model, which will allow CMYKhub to offer UV varnishing to its client base of printers.

CMYKhub founder Clive Denholm has been stationed at the Cyber booth running off a live job – marketing material to promote the new service, under the brand ‘Crystal Varnish’.

Denholm said: “Our whole purpose is to look after customers and help them grow their business.

“The great thing about this sort of technology is it provides a different range of products to our customers at a competitive price to help our customers grow,” he said.

He told the Daily that while it was attractive to be able to provide these sorts of services in-house, “we only want to do it in-house if we can do it the best”.

He explained that CMYKhub’s ethos to operate as efficiently as possible meant the trade supplier could “provide printers with products cheaper than they could do it themselves”.

CMYKhub keeps costs low because it doesn’t have a salesforce or expensive management at its hubs across the country, said Denholm. “There is no room for two margins in this business.”

After PrintEx is over, the Ryobi will be delivered to the Queensland hub, which is officially due to open on 1 July, though Denholm said it may be open earlier.

The press adds to an impressive arsenal of Ryobi hardware at CMYKhub’s operation, which includes hubs in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

Cyber’s Victorian general manager, Greg Knight, has a longstanding relationship with CMYKhub. “In all, I think I have sold Clive 10 presses,” he told the Daily.
