NBN will help printers with variable data and automation: roadshow

NBNco advisor Sean Casey told printers that high-speed broadband would help them sell variable data print by making it easier to manage data.

He also said the 100mb/second network would make it easier for printers to upload files, work offsite, store information in the cloud, automate their workflows and interact with suppliers.

The five-stop GASA roadshow attracted 150 people in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Sydney, said GASA general manager Garry Knespal.

The events featured expert panels that took part in Q&A sessions with the crowd. Knespal told ProPrint that the informal format had been well received. "Our survey shows that we had a very high satisfaction rate – 95% said it met their educational needs and 85% their networking needs."

Knespal also said printers had learned how the NBN could benefit their businesses.

"It presents opportunities. People have to grasp that opportunity and work out their online engagement. I think we learned a lot about the plan of both parties and the fact the rollout is occurring," he said.
