New Fuji Xerox kit bridges gap between 8002 and iGen4

The Fuji Xerox Color 800 Press and the Color 1000 Press are the latest additions to the vendor’s range. They sit between its DocuColor 8002 and high-end iGen4 machines, both in capabilities and price point.

ProPrint got a sneak peek at the 1000 model last week at the vendor’s Sydney showroom.

FXA has high hopes to win over customers with the machines’ optional clear toner station for spot and flood effects.

Henryk Kraszewski, marketing manager for Production Colour Solutions at FXA, said: “The samples we’ve been printing have got us thinking about what this capability can provide to our customers in terms of additional revenue opportunities.

“The clear dry ink really amplifies full colour jobs. It allows images and text to be highlighted for visual impact, or to apply security features.

“Indeed, we think the capabilities of this technology will really take off once we can get it into the hands of the creative community,” added Kraszewski.

The presses print at 2,400dpi on substrates from 55-350gsm, in sizes from 102x152mm to 330x488mm.

The Color 800 Press prints 80 pages per minute and the 1000 model prints 100ppm.

They come with a range of inline finishing options, including bookletmakers, square-edge trimmers, and high-capacity stackers. Both machines have two paper trays, each able to hold 2,000 90gsm sheets.

The presses will be commercially available in Australia in July 2010. Read the May issue of ProPrint for an in-depth look at the new presses.
