PacPrint13: KBA

The German press manufacturer will not bring any equipment to PacPrint, but there will be plenty of information on its leading sheetfed and web offset presses. The biggest drawcard should be information on the much-hyped RotaJet 76, KBA’s inkjet production press. The machine was first revealed at Drupa 2012, and there has been some hefty R&D since then.

KBA Australasia’s sheetfed general manager, Dave Lewis, concedes that the RotaJet’s quality “wasn’t quite there yet” at Drupa, but insists that the manufacturer has made huge strides in the quality department. Lewis recently received the latest print samples from Germany and will be bringing these along to hand out at PacPrint. KBA has already locked in a couple of RotaJet customers overseas, and Lewis says there has been some strong interest locally, with discussions taking place at the moment.

On the offset side, KBA staff at PacPrint will be able to show visitors some of the latest bells and whistles available to spec out its Rapida range of sheetfed presses, which includes the 106, as well as the 145 and 164 launched at Drupa. Lewis says: “We can spec up the Rapida 106 to an incredible level of sophistication.”

For instance, the 106 has a rated speed of 18,000 sheets per hour but can now be optioned out to reach 20,000.
