PIAA to run PacPrint forums, as website goes live

With the five-day event set to kick off on May 26 next year at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the co-ordination of the PacPrint Forums will be done from the Melbourne office of Printing Industries.

“As one of the hosts of PacPrint 09, we are delighted to be able to co-ordinate these forums as part of our overall commitment to the exhibition and the industry,” said Ron Patterson, general manager of Printing Industries in Victoria.

“Printing Industries has long supported an educational component to complement exhibitions such as PacPrint, which is a ‘once in four year’ opportunity for graphic arts personnel not only to see new products and services first-hand, but to learn as much as possible about what is happening in the industry. The Forums are designed to assist in this process.”

Whilst specific topics for the forums have yet to be finalised, Patterson has said that certain themes have already emerged.

“Feedback from the industry at this stage suggests that people are interested in exploring new directions and possibilities for new and growing business areas, identifying any potential impacts on business of new technology and changing market conditions, and in equipping themselves to be as profitable and competitive as possible over the short-to-medium term.”

“Issues such as the environment, future industry directions and leadership, therefore, have already been identified as possible subjects of interest.”

Patterson has also called for the industry to get involved in selecting topics, saying that any suggestions should be sent to him at ron@printnet.com.au with the subject “PacPrint 09 Forums”.

Meanwhile, the event’s website, www.pacprint.com.au, is set to hit the ‘printernet’ on October 1, with organizers promising that it will be “a vital resource to every graphic arts professional, allowing them to plan their visit to the show with a greater degree of detail and precision than ever before”.

“The website will carry up-to-date information on exhibitors, events and highlights of the upcoming exhibition, so visitors can decide exactly who, and what, they need to see, and plan their visit to maximise the opportunities provided at the show,” said PacPrint 09 chairman Alastair Hadley.

“You can not only register via our Online Visitor Registration, [but] you can download information on things like travel and accommodation, have your key questions answered, and ensure you don’t miss any of the fantastic events that will dovetail with the show.”

The site will also feature a complete list of exhibitors, as well as a floor-plan showing each exhibitor’s location, a full list of events for visitors to diarise, FAQs to assist both exhibitors and visitors, and all the latest media releases.

There will also be a designated Exhibitor Zone, where exhibitors will be able to access the Exhibitor Manual and download marketing material.

From February, registered visitors will also be able to contact exhibitors directly through the site’s Exhibition Directory in order to arrange visits, product demonstrations, or meetings.
