PMP clinches UFC Magazine print contract from ACP

The magazine is the "print bible" of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and will be produced under licence for the sports' Las Vegas-based parent body.

Ian McHutchison, general manager of production at ACP, told ProPrint the magazine would be produced at PMP's Moorebank site with the first issue due out on February.

It will be printed on 65gsm gloss for the text pages and 200gsm for the covers, which PMP will outsource to one of ACP's pre-authorised suppliers.

McHutchison was hesitant to give away exact details of the print run for the 160pp title, but said it would be at the upper end of its men's portfolio, which also includes Top Gear, FHM and Men's Style. It is "not big in relation to the women and lifestyle titles but at the high point in the male and sports categories", he added.

UFC should more than make up for the closure of Ralph magazine, which ACP closed in June after 13 years.

According to ACP, UFC Magazine has become America's top men's newsstand seller since being launched in July 2009, outselling the likes of Sports Illustrated and Esquire.
