His photobook, Stoned in Kabul, beat more than 400 other entries to be named photobook of the year.

Stoned in Kabul tells the story of two brothers trying to survive their heroin addiction in war-torn Afghanistan and is part of a series Dupont is producing to sell to elite art galleries.

Dupont said: “I am a perfectionist when it comes to quality and presentation. It is only through the mastery of Momento’s team of creatives that I can lay my absolute trust in them making books that not only excel my seal of approval, but are unique works of art in themselves.”

The competition was held in conjunction with the annual Head On Photo Festival and offered $15,000 in cash and prizes across seven categories.

The awards ceremony was held on 23 May at the Sydney premises of Momento Pro and attracted a crowd of customers, suppliers, finalists and judges.

Photographer and judge Julie Sundberg told the audience that photobooks were vastly superior to electronic versions because they stirred the senses by offering scale, dimension and interactivity.

The June issue of ProPrint magazine will feature an in-depth profile of Momento Pro.
