A move for The Advertiser

Murdoch says he is proud to open the building that bore the name of his father, Keith Murdoch, who made his first newspaper investment outside Melbourne, in Adelaide in 1929.

“Keith Murdoch House is not just a wonderful showpiece for Adelaide. It is a modern, efficient workplace that provides our editors, journalists and staff with all the facilities they need to grow the business and produce the best possible newspapers,” says Murdoch.

The purpose built building is the most modern and environmentally efficient newspaper office in Australia. It has been built with a green star rating, consumes less energy and emits less CO2.

Advertiser Newspapers managing director Michael Miller says the new building has been designed with staff and customers in mind.

A full height atrium brings natural light into the building and the floor layout maximises creativity and communication between staff members.

The grand foyer allows plenty of space for customers with more retail staff to deal with sales and accounts and a bright News shop.

“Each of the buildings News Limited has owned in Adelaide has been a landmark in its own right and Keith Murdoch House is no exception,” says Miller. “This is a world standard benchmark for a newspaper publishing house and it will ensure staff and our newspapers continue to excel.”
