Active takes gold at POPAI

Active Display Group (Active) takes home the top prizes at the 2017 POPAI awards for its Wonderland POS design for Myer, produced in conjunction with WPP creative team, Ideaworks.

Winning the People’s Choice and Best Design & Innovation categories, Active has now been awarded 153 times by the global marketing retail association.

Active uses a combination of equipment to produce its work, including the M-Press Tiger, a flatbed digital and screen printing press, HP Scitex FB 11000, HP Latex 3000, Uvistar II, and SIAS Grand Format press.

Zita Watkin, general manager Marketing, Active says, “All print done was done in house, with all the black and white elements digitally printed.

“We have now won 153 awards after this year. It is about collaboration with retailers, creative agencies, and brand owners to give a real plain English understanding of activations and their marketing at retail success for the client.”

The project turned a Sydney Myer store into a wonderland for tourists and shoppers, using a combination of print work, hand drawn illustrations and digital screens.

Active says, “Much of our success was achieved through working with our WPP Australia New Zealand partners. We entered this years’ awards with co-entries from AFI Branding, Ideaworks and WPP The Store.

“Collaboration between WPP agencies is core to the vision for growth within the group.

The biggest congratulations of the night goes to our winning client partners 7-Eleven, Disney, Myer and Uniqlo who all walked away with gold Indian’s and are now in the running for global top honours at the SHOP Global Marketing at Retail Awards announced next March in Chicago.”

Active also won the gold prize for its for Share the Love Krispy Kreme with Nutella, and silver for Slurpee BYO Cup Day in the Physical Display: Petrol, Convenience & Route, Temporary Display' category, commissioned by 7-Eleven.

The company also won big with its Disney Incredibly Magical Personalisation Station for The Walt Disney Company in the Best Temporary Display segment.

Bluestar Display also took home a silver award for the Liquor – Temporary Display category, for its BWS JD D150 Anniversary Dartboard Display, commissioned by Brown Forman.
