ADS invests in Vutek GS3250lx LED

Melbourne outfit ADS Australia has invested in an EFI Vutek GS3250lx Pro led printer, which it says will give it a boost in productivity and cut cost. ADS Australia services include screen printing, digital printing, print management, apparel printing, as well as real estate signs. Dean Wright, ADS managing director, says the Vutek printer, which it purchased at PrintEx, will ensure the company cuts costs, increases its POS capabilities and keeps more of its work in-house.

He says there were two requirements on the top of his list – speed and print quality – and the new printer satisfies both. “The GS2350LX Pro easily delivered the speed and quality I wanted, but the added ability to print on thinner, sensitive substrates with the LED curing really sealed the deal,” says Wright. EFI says the new 3.2-metre Vutek printer features the cool cure led technology, which will enable ADS to print on a broad range of substrates, including media that cannot withstand the high-heat drying or curing methods used in other inkjet platforms. “LED is also a greener production solution, printing with virtually no VOCs while using less energy compared to traditional UV-curing methods and latex inkjet printer,” EFI adds. Wright says the company has been working long hours to get the jobs done and this investment will ‘immediately’ eliminate a lot of overtime and allow ADS to quote ‘more competitively’.

ADS says its investment in a Kongsberg XM44 cutter in October will ensure it keeps up with the output the new press will add to its fleet. Wright says, “Having the ability to get a job on the floor within a few days is something we are looking to achieve, especially for our POS customers. The Vutek led printer, along with our new cutting equipment, is going to give us the capability to realise that goal. “The new setup will get an eight hour job done in four hours and free up capacity for emergency and fast-turnaround work.” ADS bought the printer on the second day of PrintEx from EFI distributor Spicers, which sold more than a dozen products over the course of the show. Wright says he will host an open house once the machine is installed to show it and the company’s other capabilities to clients.
