Afta Forum to tackle market demands

Entitled ’meeting the market demands’ the event begins with the chairman’s barbeque at 6.30pm at the Crowne Plaza Terrigal, with the serious business getting underway the following morning. There are seminars for the next day and a half, and lined up to speak are key figures from the world of flexo, with industry identities flying in from Europe and the USA.

Highlight of the event is likely to be the annual awards dinner dance, being held on the Monday night at the Crowne Plaza, which will recognise both outstanding flexographic printing achievements and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the development of the industry.

On the opening session topics to be covered during the seminar programme include a presentation by Frank Anthony of the Press Times in Chatanooga on why his newspaper is being printed by flexo, Gary Gates form Gates Packaging in the US on new opportunities for narrow web flexo printers, and Chuck Plilip from API Foils on flexo dieless foiling. Breaking into the North American sector is Mark Calcagni from Omet on narrow web flexo in Europe.

The afternoon session includes presentations from Anthony Conway of Esko-Graphics on digital flexo, Mike Russell from Mark Andy on narrow web trends around the world, and Angelo Cornali from Uteco on trends in flexo presses.

Creo will be presenting, as will DuPont with Martin Draeher speaking on standardisation in flexo. Final speaker of the day is martin Rueter form Novacote on single pot solvent free adhesives.

Following the awards evening the next morning brings a trio of ink specialists to the fore, with Gordon Stone from Coates, Len Schaffer from Flint and Gary Mort from Sicpa all presenting on key ink developments.
