Age prints new insert for holiday-goers

Victorian audiences will soon be treated to travel inspiration when the printed insert Traveller is launched in The Sunday Age on August 21.

The insert is currently available in The Sydney Morning Herald but publisher Fairfax Media says its popularity in NSW has prompted its extension into the Victorian market.

The Sunday Age is printed at the expanded Fairfax Media print and distribution site in Wendouree, Victoria.

Fairfax brands director for Life Media Jodie Smith says, “Advertisers now have a dual state NSW and Victorian travel offering on Saturday and Sunday, extending the existing audience of more than 2.7 million each month across the Traveller print sections and Traveller.com.au.

The move by Fairfax will have been influenced by the recent launch of GoExplore, and 800,000 run magazine printed by AIW, and distributed to high income homes in Sydney and Melbourne.

Smith says, “Traveller inspires, entices and informs, offering our audience the tools to turn their dreams into a reality and allows advertisers to connect with this highly valuable audience of educated and curious travellers who have the discretionary income to spend on quality travel experiences.”

Returning popular columns Victorians can expect to find include, ‘Everywhere Man’ with Ben Groundwater, ‘Cruise Director’ with Sally MacMillan, ‘Mama Holiday’ with Tracey Spicer, ‘The Tripologist’ with Michael Gebicki and ‘Deals’.

This month Fairfax released its results for financial year 2016, logging a five per cent drop in revenue and a 45 per cent plunge in EBITDA for its Australian Metro segment which includes The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age and The Australian Financial Review.
