The deal, first announced in November, will see Agfa acquire Gandi’s manufacturing facilities and staff, though not some of the companies from which Gandi was formed, such as Superwide Connection.
Steve Taylor, Agfa Oceania business manager for inkjet, told ProPrint that Gandi’s large format range would sit alongside Agfa’s existing Anapurna and M-Press offerings.
“Gandi sits in many segments of the inkjet market, so it offers Agfa more opportunities to penetrate this market,” he said.
Taylor said arrangements were being made to continue servicing of Gandi equipment in the local market.
“Gandi has a reputation in Australia for producing solid and reliable technology, so we’re hoping to maintain and develop it,” he said.
Financial details for the deal were not disclosed. Gandi had been in bankruptcy protection since May last year.
