Trade finishing and embellishment house Allkotes has launched what it says is the world’s first print finishing app. The app, available for iPhone and iPad, lists the company’s products in nine categories with additional product information available at the tap of a finger. Darren Delaney, business development director at Allkotes, says, “Allkotes has developed a range of unrivalled innovative finishing solutions.

Print finishing app: Allkotes
“The new app will enable printers to show their customers what is available. When printers are talking to customers they can use the app to help the customer understand both what is available and what they are looking for.” The new app lists nine separate categories comprising some 50 different products including lamination, spot coating, Allkotes 3D, speciality products, Micromotion, foil stamping and embossing, Mirrafilm, coatings and encapsulation. The app is available as a free download for IOS devices. Allkotes says Android users can go to its website which is optimised for Android to see the same product range. Delaney says, “It seems nowadays there is nothing more important than having a presence in the social media world for immediate communication. So to top off our new market friendly website, Allkotes is stepping up with the launch of our new interactive Allkotes app.

Examples of different finishing products and techniques
“Yet again we wanted to raise the bar for our customers and friends with respect to the quality and service they can provide to their customers. So why not create an app as a sales tool that is easy to use?” Delaney says Stephen Molloy, author of How Apps are changing the World, provided expert insight and guidance in the build of the app. Delaney says, “Our thought process was to provide a tool that is always ready to access by bundling our range of products into IOS iPhone or iPad devices. This means that printers are always able to help educate their customers. “Let’s say your client is trying to describe an effect or a finish of what they are looking for and they are not familiar with the product names. This is where your experience and knowledge kicks in to advise your customer to download the Allkotes app. “Another example, what if you are with your client and you download the Allkotes app, and your client is turning to you for help, experience, guidance with their printed project. What do you do? The Allkotes app to the rescue. With our photographs and product descriptions you are in good hands.”
