Amcor secures flexible division

Aperio is one of Australasia’s most successful suppliers of flexible food, beverage and industrial packaging. The company assets include six plants in Australia, four in New Zealand and a manufacturing site in Thailand. It is also the owner of more than 50 trademarks and numerous patents.

Ken MacKenzie, managing director of Amcor says, “We look forward to integrating these assets into the Amcor Group and working with our customers to deliver an improved product and service offering, particularly through innovation.”

Also commenting, Peter Sutton, managing director and CEO of Aperio says the acquisition brings together the two leaders in flexible packaging in Australasia and Aperio’s Thailand business will be an important strategic addition to Amcor’s existing flexible packaging business.

Sutton says, “The combination of the Aperio and Amcor flexible packaging operations in Australia and New Zealand will create a strong business with the scale, technology and skills required to successfully compete in the long term against both local and overseas competitors.”

Last month the proposed aquaution was approved by the ACCC who said after an extensive investigation, it formed the view that the proposed acquisition would not result in a substantial lessening of competition in any market.
