Andrew Price returns to print

Controversial print figure Andrew Price is back in print after his sudden dumping as CEO of Paperlinx, this time as the chief executive of printing management business HH Global Asia Pacific. The shock news of his axing created waves in the print industry in February as the giant paper manufacturer, Paperlinx, struggled to keep the wheels turning towards a positive path.

At the time Price was adamant that he would take some time off to relax, however he will now take on the role of the chief executive on August 17, the day his Paperlinx non-compete expires. He says he had several offers as soon as the news of his sacking hit the media but the offer by HH Global was so good it left him ‘gobsmacked’. Price says, “It is refreshing to be working with an internationally respected board, who have long term commercial experience and a thorough understanding of the complexities of our industry. “HH Global is a global industry leader and I am excited to be working with this highly successful team.” This new role means Price will have to move to Hong Kong and oversee operations in Australia, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, and China. Price came to prominence in print by founding what became Australia’s biggest print management company Stream which he grew into a $100m business when he sold it to Toll. Price says he shares the vision of the $200m group of board of directors’ he will join, and that vision is to grow the Australian arm of the company. He says, “We have been selective about the type of business we go after and this will continue to be the case. If we cannot add significant value for the client we will walk away. Identifying the clients where we bring most value is an ongoing process. “It is all about listening to the client and ensuring we deliver the most efficient solutions for their marketing supply chain.” He says the print industry has come a long way since he first joined it in the 90s, when founded Stream Solutions and built it into a $100m business, before selling it to Toll in 2007. Price says, “Print management has moved on in eight years, it’s not the same industry. “When I saw the systems that HH Global is offering its clients, I could see a whole raft of new opportunities, which is really what made me want to work with them. It is no longer about print, it is about a totally integrated marketing supply chain, which is exciting. “Of course there will always be a need for print, but in the case of HH Global the ancillary offerings add enormous value to a client’s marketing supply chain.”
