The Australian has released The List – Australia’s Richest 250, its biggest annual study of the country’s 250 wealthiest individuals for 2022 with Anthony Pratt, Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht named in the top 10.
Anthony Pratt, the executive chairman of packaging conglomerate Visy and Pratt Industries USA is no stranger to the industry.
He ranked #3 in the top 10 this year with a wealth of $21.27 billion in 2021.
As one of if not the world’s largest, private recycled paper manufacturers, Visy and Pratt Industries USA has provided more than 18,000 well-paying manufacturing jobs. Pratt has donated over $300 million – and pledged to donate $1 billion more in his lifetime.
Most recently, Visy acquired the Australian and New Zealand glass manufacturing business of Owens-Illinois (O-I) in a deal worth almost $1 billion.
Dynamic duo Cliff Obrecht and Melanie Perkins made this year’s top 10 list ranking at #8 and #9 respectively following their shared wealth of $15.89 billion.
The co-owners (and husband-wife team) of global visual communications company Canva started the business in 2013 and it has since become the largest online design and publishing tool worldwide.
The company records more than seven billion designs created in more than 190 countries and employs more than 2,000 staff across its offices in Sydney, Manila and Beijing.
Canva’s valuation reached an all-time high of US$40 billion, in September last year, after the company raised US$200 million in its latest funding round.
In October 2021, Canva and Australian premium printing company Easel joined forces to provide a simple design, print, and delivery solution for individuals and small businesses.
