ArmstrongQ wins big international award

ArmstrongQ has taken the prestigious Best of Show title for the second year running at the US-based Premier Print Awards.

The Sydney print and design firm learned earlier in the year that its in-house creative agency, Body of Work, had won eight Benny awards. The Best of Show was then announced at the awards dinner in Chicago on 8 September.

Creative director Bob Armstrong said Roland DG's VersaUV LEJ-640 flatbed printer had played an important role in the win.

"When we started Body of Work, our goal was to produce the best printed product in the world," he said.

"In order to accomplish that, I knew that we would need a large-format printer capable of replicating all of the unique qualities, colours and subtleties of my original photos. The LEJ-640 has been able to do all that, and more."

Body of Work art prints sell from $25,000 to $1 million. Roland DG had some on display at its stands at PacPrint and Visual Impact Image Expo.

Other Australian firms also won Benny awards. Evolve Printing won two, while Superior Foil Print and Advance Press each took home one gold. Goldcraft Embossing and Collotype Labels also won silver medals.
