ASAP steps up as Aussie agent for Watkiss

Over the past three years Watkiss’ export sales have more than doubled, as the company has strengthened its position as a leading supplier of booklet making and print finishing systems to the global printing industry. More than 75 per cent of production is sold overseas.

In April, Watkiss was presented with the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, which is one of the most prestigious accolade for business-related achievement and performance in the UK. This month the company received an honourable mention in the Sunday Times International Track 100 as one of the UK’s most successful exporters.

Commenting on the local appointment, Matt Benn, managing director of ASAP says, “I believe Watkiss chose ASAP as its representative in Australia because of our vision as well as our strong reputation. We are rapidly expanding and plan to cover a lot of ground in the market.”

Benn continues that the Australian industry is seeing a strong uptake of digital print finishing technology, which forward thinking suppliers are recognising. He says, “The whole, industry is turning towards digital and many offset printers are losing business due to the request for smaller print runs.

“A lot of our customers are currently moving into digital and many more have already made the move. They realise that you have to being doing some digital work in order to stay competitive.”

Benn also outlines that he is pleased to be aligned with Watkiss as the manufacturer has a reputation for staying ahead of market technology and adapting well to change.

He says, “A lot of other companies just copy the technology that’s already out there, but Watiss is good at assessing the needs of the market and developing new technology for a progressing industry.”
