ASGA calls for nominations

Designed to recognise and reward excellence in sign production, knowledge and practice, the awards bring valuable attention to outstanding individuals and businesses.

ASGA awards help generate customer interest, confidence and loyalty. They are a great public relations opportunity, and they help boost employee morale.

This year the award categories have been revised so that each category will focus on a specific set of related skills and processes, and those who get in early, before March 30, will not have to pay an entry fee. There is also no entry fee for apprentices.

Members’ entries received after March 30 will have to pay a $25 +GST fee for up to the first three entries, with a $60 +GST fee for all entries from non members.

All entered works must have been completed between January 1, 2005 and June 30, 2006.

Awards convenor Barbara Enright is also calling for industry experts willing to take of the challenge of judging.

“I would like each member to have a serious think about who they feel could best represent our industry and be part of the judging panel,” says Enright.

She says she would like three judges who meet the following criteria.

* Someone who knows the nuts and bolts of the industry and who is able to see the complexity of a project and is experienced.

* Someone who may have moved onto another industry, or has a background in the industry.

* Someone who appreciates the finished product but perhaps knows nothing about how it was done.

* Someone who was a traditional signwriter or graphics and sign skilled person and maybe retired.

Anyone who wishes to nominate for the judging roles, or would like to submit entries, should contact ASGA.
