ASGA to run webinar on recruiting overseas workers

The Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA) will be hosting a webinar on recruiting overseas workers on 30 August at 3.00pm AEST.

The webinar will be presented by Warwick Ryan and Simonne Pengelly of Hickson Lawyers and Noelene Murray of Perdaman Global Services, moderated by Vernon Kingman of Kingman Strategies.

It will cover the overseas recruitment process, visa and employment contract considerations and answer commonly asked questions, such as ‘how long does the process take?’ and ‘what happens after the visa expires’?

“With many sign businesses struggling to recruit staff at the moment and no magic solutions to fix the current labour shortage, this webinar is likely to generate a lot of interest,” ASGA president Mick Harrold said.

“The ASGA executive board is working hard to respond to the labour shortage issue, with many of us facing the same predicament. Recruiting apprentice candidates at the career expos has been a key strategy to date which we believe will see results in the medium long-term future, but we recognise that hiring skilled overseas workers provides a much more immediate solution.

“Many businesses are reluctant to go down the path of recruiting overseas workers because it seems too hard, but many that have taken the leap of faith have had success here, such as webinar moderator, Vernon Kingman. Our aim with this webinar is to let the experienced players in this field break down the steps involved and answer the many questions that people have on this topic.

“Even if those attending the webinar decide not to go down this path at this time, they will come away knowing the approximate costs involved and who and where they can turn to for advice and assistance if the need arises later.”

This webinar is free for ASGA members and $33 inc GST for non-members. Click here to register.
