Bindweld grows with Graffica

The new machine features a heated bed with foiling capabilities for the creasing and cutting of plastic materials ready for screenprinting and assembly into displays and packaging pieces. What sets the new machine apart from the first machine is the foiling abilities.
According to Neil Sutherington, Graffica managing director, the machine is ideal for runs under 2000 and features fast set-up. The machine is installed with a self-centring chase, which means that the die block can be put into the machine and it self-centres. He says that the heated bed is the key feature in this machine.

“The heated bed allows for good creasing and cutting. Particularly for cutting, where plastics up to the thickness of a credit card are used, it removes the need for the machine to work extra hard. Like a knife through butter, if you will,” explains Sutherington.

Victor Matoufi, Bindweld manager, says that the two machines have helped him to grow the business significantly, and he is very happy with how they have performed for him.

“We were finding that with turnaround times becoming shorter, we really needed a second machine rather than trying to chop and change all the time on one machine,” says Matoufi.

“The two machines have really helped us to service to do shorter runs and service that end of the market. We have automatic machines here also, but this way we can service a wide spectrum.”

According to Matoufi, the heated bed really helps his company produce a higher quality propylene product faster, and was the main drawcard, as is the after sales service offered by Graffica.

“The growth in the company has come from being able to offer quicker turnaround. If it didn’t help us, we wouldn’t have bee able to afford two,” says Matoufi.
