Blueprint and KW Doggett unite for dog lovers

Port Melbourne printer Blueprint and paper merchant KW Doggett have partnered to produce fundraising calendars for Labrador Rescue Australia, donating presses and paper to print the dog themed job.

Paper for the 2017 calendar production was donated by KW Doggett and the print run was performed for free by Blueprint after the charity’s deal with its initial printer fell through.

Jess Moller-Nielsen from Labrador Rescue Australia says the team had a printer lined up for the job, however it pulled out at the last minute after realising it ‘got nothing out of it’.

“In the beginning we actually had another printer lined up but they said they did not want to do it if they got nothing out of it, we had offered to promote their business via our social media channels and website and still they did not want to continue,” says Moller-Nielsen.

“So it was back to the drawing board for us. As 100 per cent of the proceeds from the sales of our calendar go towards our dogs in care so we could not afford to pay much for printing costs.

We approached several suppliers asking for quotes including estimated turnaround times and what discounts they could provide.”

The charity then came across Blueprint after a foster carer who also worked as an engineer on the printer’s press suggested the Melbourne-based business.

According to Labrador Rescue, the team approached Blueprint owner Steve Reichelt who offered to print the job free of charge, and KW Doggett's Andrew Raines  – who was at the Blueprint site at the time – volunteered to donate its paper.

A print run of 1000 calendars was requested by Labrador Rescue, which they will sell for $25 including postage for its 10 year anniversary edition.

The charity is hoping to raise in excess of $16,000 which it says goes a long way to rescuing more dogs. Those interested in purchasing a fundraising calendar can visit labrescue.com.au
