Bobst – Rolls Royce of print finishing at PacPrint

David Rogers, managing director of TLC Sydney, says, “the new Bobst Visionfoil 104 will enable us to do everything from relief embossing to hologram application. We went for the Bobst because we always go for the best quality technology, which is reflected in all the machines we have at our factory.

“TLC always invests in the latest equipment available for fast turnaround and superior quality. Our clients are offered the expertise, techniques and innovation that will ensure their most demanding requirements are met.

“Whilst we offered a full range of services in the smaller formats, our clients have for some time been asking us to process jobs in the larger formats, especially in spot UV and foil stamping: the installation of the Bobst Visionfoil 104 will enable us to meet the needs of all our customers, from the smaller formats to the very large format jobs.

“The particular machine we have bought is customised to our specification and has taken 12-18 months to build at the Bobst factory in Switzerland. We wanted the most flexible machine in order to satisfy the widest variety of customer needs. For example, the new machine will enable us to do blanking, holographic foil stamping and foiling into plastic.”

Rogers says that, contrary to popular belief, the business of laminating is not simple ‘plug and play’. “This business requires serious know-how and skills. The solutions are not simply off-the-shelf and we go to great effort to make sure we test and use the best foils on our machines. We have a simple philosophy: give our clients what they want, when they want it with the highest possible quality’,” continues Rogers.

“Whilst the first four months were relatively slow this year, business took off in May – we haven’t seen it so busy in years.”

In a relatively short period of time, TLC which was established in 1997, has built a substantial market share in the trade laminating segment, adding to this with the acquisition of Sydney-based Varnishing & Laminating (V&L) in 2006.

Another large Bobst machine demonstrating high quality, affordable diecutting live on the MAN Ferrostaal stand was the Evoline 102E Autoplaten Diecutter, this particular model having been sold to Leichhardt, Sydney-based Labelcraft.
