BPA marketing manager Wendy Croxton said BPA had already held the print management contract for Hutchison-owned 3 Mobile.

Following last year’s joint venture between Vodafone Australia and Hutchison, the print management contract was combined and put out to tender. The Vodafone contract is believed to have been in the hands of the Blue Star Group prior to this decision.

The 3 Mobile work is said to have been worth around $5m on its own, with the $10m Vodafone contract believed to have previously been held by Blue Star.

Croxton told ProPrint it was BPA’s experience with 3 Mobile that helped them win the tender.

“With our 3 experience, who we’ve been working with for a number of years, we’ve been able to get a smooth supply chain for print, so we’ve been able to show how we manage that better than anyone else,” she said.

“The fast turn-around and speed-to-market is also very important to them,” she added.

The contract will cover all of the printed marketing material, including signage and point-of-sale, for the Vodafone and 3 Mobile brands. The logistical work will utilise BPA’s warehouse in the Sydney suburb of Botany.

Croxton said the “end-to-end” deal will also require BPA to handle “design support”, particularly “pre-flighting files to make sure they’re brand-consistent and print-ready”. BPA will also handle any direct mail campaigns the client may wish to launch.

Croxton said that each print job would be put out to tender through its print supply panel, which includes up to 100 printers across Australia and overseas.

“All of those printers have been reviewed and accredited by us, and we work with a three-monthly process to ensure they live up to our high standards,” she said.

BPA’s other clients include Suncorp, AAMI, GIO, Australia Red Cross, Seafolly Australia, Sleep City, and Vero.
